A Kit: Power Over Time Heavy Toast Kit
All bourbon barrels are charred inside. The process of burning the wood interior both sterilizes the barrel, and toasts the wood layers underneath the char. Like creating caramel out of sugar, this toasting process changes the flavors in the wood, bringing out different tastes with different levels of toast. Our other kits contain medium, and medium plus toast levels.
The next step up (not always the best for every application) is called Heavy Toast and is a different kind of flavor that many people like. The heavy toast is more expensive to make, involving a lot more labor and time. We make it available separately for the experimenters out there that want to try it to see how it differs from the other toasts, and to enjoy the opportunities to craft a bourbon from the heavier toast, or to blend into their othe[[r creations. In particular, some find the heavy toast indispensable for crafting Scotch.
